Delay Favored f- Members of Jehovah's Wit hessea reportedly sold pamphlets from door to door and played 'phonograph records on porches prior to the recent disturbance over their activities. Councilman Rollln Cantrall aid he favored holding up this proposed ordinance, as weii as another aimed at pamphlet vend ing on the streets, until the su preme court reconsiders a deci sion affecting Jehovah's Wit nesses. . : 1 It was decided not to act upon the ordinance Monday night, but delay it a week. At next week's meeting, an ordinance imposing it iicense fee of $5 on pamphlet Vendors will be read for the third time. This also is aimed at the Jehovahites, and replaces a similar ordinance imposing a $10 See. : Airport Leas . v The council referred to the traffic committee an ordinance which would require .vehicular tops at all railroad grade cross ings on city streets. The State Railroad association asked that action be taken to require stops f main line crossings. Councilman Bussman objected to requiring stops on : South Sixth street at several spur tracks, as provided is the pro posed local ordinance. The council adopted an agree ment between the city and the Standard Oil company,' making the Standard's lease of certain airport facilities inferior to that f a contemplated lease of the airport by the federal govern ment. Standard has a month-to-month lease at the field, where it has ' gas tanks and pumping equipment. Under - terms of agreement, Standard's lease Would be suspended for the life at the government lease, al though Standard would continue to serve private aircraft. Traffic Violation! i, In this connection, a letter was read from the army - engi neers at Portland, disclosing that the secretary of war and the civ il aeronautics authority - are working out a new lease for municipal airports such as that at Klamath Falls. Some time ago the army proposed a lease Of the field, but never executed it. The new proposal, when Completed, . will be offered nv Btead of the old one that never was concluded. Councilman Bussman asserted pat motorists are-violating the "no left turn" signs' on Main Street, and that pedestrians are Ignoring the wait and walk sig nals.
