Anderson will terminate Kis pastorate of the First Covenant church this Sun day. He has served the local church since April 1, 1937, com ing here from Fresno, Calif. As listing him in his labors has been his family, Mrs. Anderson, Mar Ian,. Phyllis and Wilbur. .... Rev. Anderson has been active In the Klamath Ministerial asso ciation. Besides, serving on vari ous committees, he has held the position of secretary, vice presi dent, and was chosen president at the close of last seaso... He re grets that, because of his remov al from the city, he cannot fill this position. The Anderson family expects to leave Klamath Falls on Thurs day,, Aug. 27. They will visit their former heme in Fresno, Calif., and intend to journey eastward the first week in Sep tember; Their new charge is at the Covenant church in Oakland, Neb. This church has a record of 57 years of continued service.. Both Rev. and Mrs. Anderson are from northeastern Nebraska. They have been appreciative of the friendliness and cooperation of the people living in Klamath Falls and vicinity and wish to ex press their sincere thanks. The church is arranging a fare well reception for the pastor and his family on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 7:45 p. m. Besides local rep resentation on the program, Rev. Axel G. Samuelson of Sacramen to will participate. Rev. Sam uelson is president of the Cali fornia Covenant association to which the local Covenant church belongs. Community Congregational Church "A Faith for History's Great est Crisis" is the sermon theme of Rev. Eugene V. Hayncs, pas tor, as he speaks at the 11:00 a. m. worship service next Sunday. Mrs. H. S. Stone, guest soloist, will assist in the ministry of music with two vocal solos at this service. Church school meets at 9:45 a. m. Comrades of the Way will not meet until the second Sun day in September; The church, which is located on Garden avenue between East Main and Martin streets, has a nursery during the church hour for the convenience of parents who wish to attend the morning service. Christian Science Church "Mind" will be the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, August 23. The Golden Text will bo "God hath not given us tha spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (11 Tim. 1:7). Among the citations which will comprise the Lesson-Sermon are the following from the Bible: "Who hath measured the waters In -the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended tho dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed tha mountains in scales, and the hills in a bal ance? Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath The Lesson-Sermon also will include the following correlative passages from the Christian Sci ence textbook, "Seiencs and Health with Key to the Scrip tures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Mind. The only, I, or Us; the only Spirit, Soul, divino Prin ciple, substance, Life, Truth, Love; the one God; not that which is in man, but the divine Principle, or God, of whom man is the full and perfect expression; Deity, which outlines but is not outlined" (p.591). First Presbyterian ' Church The First Presbyterian church, corner of North Sixth and Pine streets, Rev. Theodore ' Smith pastor, Mrs. Arthur Hall Dent son organist. The morning worship at 11 o'clock opens with the organ pre lude, "March" by Teilman. Con gregation and choir unite in singing "The Trisagion" and, following the call to worship, "The Doxology" and, after the Invocation and Lord's prayer, "The Gloria Patri." The re sponse to the morning prayer is "Our Father s God to Thee, Au thor of Liberty." The dedication hymn is Schumann's "We Give But Thine Own" and the organ offertory is "Offertory in F" by Jackson. The pastor will speak on "Archeology and Old Testa ment History." The worship closes with the benediction, the choir dismissal, "Lord, Let Us Now Depart in Peace" by Whelp ton and the organ postlude, "Postlude" -by Donahoe. The evening worship is at 8 o'clock and opens with "Prelude in F" by Schlockler. The offer tory is "Idyl" by Klein, and the postlude, "Lento" by Kroeger. The pastor will speak on "Mir acles, Shall We Believe in Them?" , The Bible school is held at 9:45 in the morning and is im mediately preceded by a prayer group of teachers who meet in the pastor's study at 9:40. . The Christian Endeavor groups are to hold a special open-air service at 7 o'clock on the me morial lawn of the Earl Whit lock home, to which all young people and elders also, are in vited. Following the evening worship, all of the young peo ple of the city are invited to an open-air "fireside" to be held at this same place, on the memorial lawn. This will be shortly after 9 o clock.
