Jun 10, 104J PAGE EIGHT VFW Auxiliary Plans Convention Veterans of Foreign Wars Women Busy Making Arrangements for Encampment Pelican VFW's auxiliary of Klamath Falls will act as hostess for the annual encampment of the Oregon department of the Veterans of Foreign Wars' auxiliary to be held In Klam ath Falls June the twenty-fourth to twenty-seventh. A large attendance is anticipated as there will be two special cars out oi roriiand for delegates and guests. . Mrs. Emma Carter, state v . program chairman, ana ner committee composed of Mrs. Naomi Kurtz, Mrs. Edna Car nahan, Mrs. Caroline Wil liams, and Mrs. Ella Mulllns have been busy for several weeks making plans, and fi nal ' arrangements for the en tertainment . of the out-of-tbwn guests. Mrs. Dagney Subject heads committee In charge of the luncheon to be' held at the Pelican grill, Mrs. Naomi Kurtz is in charge of- two breakfasts to be held at' the Elk hotel, Mrs. Gladys Lofdahl heads the registra tion ' committee, and . Mrs. Martha Barron will act as chairman of the hospitality committee. ' - Miss Pat Livingston, who heads the local ambulance corps, has volunteered to fur nish courtesy cars driven by members of her group. The VFW's auxiliary has had a very busy year as the present national emergency has' added many new avenues through which. their help has been needed and given. This year the rehabilitation com mittee alone reported the do nation of $650 worth of clothes, food, household ar ticles, medical and dental aid, given to needy veteran fam ilies of Klamath county. This group sponors a Girl Scout troop for which they bought a United States flag, a troop banner, and all the merit badges earned by the girls. Several of the members are active as leaders of other Scout troops as well as the one they sponsor. ; Pelican auxiliary of VFW members have put In over 1000 hours of Red Cross and defense work In the fields of home nursing, first aid. Red Cross sewing, soliciting for Bed , Cross, registering women In the drive for mo bilization of women, and the ambulance corps. Veteran's hospitals have been sent a reg ular monthly donation of money as well as old silk hose, cigar boxes and ' ciga rettes throughout the year. . An active legislative, com mittee watches all bills be fore congress concerning vet erans as well as promoting needed helpful legislation. '.Committees in charge of the state encampment next week appreciate the fine pub lic cooperation that they have received in making plans for what they hope will be a very successful and profitable gathering. WEDDING ANNOUNCED BY PARENTS MERRILL Mr. end Mrs. Paul D. Lewis of Merrill this week announced the marriage of their only daughter, Lois Bemlce, to Mr. Emery Par rish, of Mimauma, Florida. ' The wedding was an event of ' June the fifteenth in the Bap tist parsonage at Reno, Ne vada. From Reno Mr. and Mrs. Parrish left for Salt Lake City where Mr. Parrish will be located for the pres ent. He-is employed by the Ford J. Twaits company as an engineer. For traveling the bride wore a blush rose ensemble with navy and white, acces sories. A graduate of the Mer rill high school with the class of 1941 she has assisted her parents in business here for the last year. , Mr. Parrish, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Parrish, Mimauma. COUPLE WED IN RENO IT IS LEARNED v.,.. TULELAKE A wedding announcement of Interest here was made this week by relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Stonecypher, formerly of Tulelake, who now make their home in Gardens, near Los Angeles. Mrs. Stonecypher is the former Nona Long, gradu ate of the Tulelake high school this spring. The wedding was an event of January the thirty first in Reno. Mrs. Stonecy pher is the daughter of Mrs. Irvin Long. - The young couple are both well known here, the bride be ing a princess of the Klamath basin potato festival court last year. Mr. Stonecypher is cm ployed in the shipyards at San Pedro, having recently gradu ated from a government train ing course. Bride-Elect Honored Malin Girl. Feted At ' Henzel Home With Garden Party MALIN Miss Winona Logs don, daughter of Mrs. E. L. Gray, whose marriagn will be an event of this week in Wash ington, was honored Wednes day evening with a delightful ly appointed miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. Dick Henzel. Co-hostesses were Miss Marie Hanel and Miss Violet English who, with the bride-elect, were members of this year's graduating class of the Malin high school. Miss Logsdon will become the bride of Paul Hendrickson, stationed at Fort Lewis. The beautiful gardens at the Henzel home were lighted with Chinese lanterns and during the evening. Miss Bet ty Lou Dalton played a num ber of piano numbers, Master Billy Dalton offered four ac cordian numbers and a duet was sung by Barbara Nyhart and Rose Van Meter. Pink and white predominated in all ap pointments and in the refresh ment menu. Invited for the evening were Mrs. Merle Loosley, Mrs. John Reber, Mrs. Jess Lindsey, Mrs. J. Perry Haley, Mrs. C. M. Trotman with Mrs. John Takacs, Tulelake, taking the consolation. High in pinochle went to Mrs. Ival Wolfe, also of Tulelake, with Mrs. John Kandra, Jr., Tule lake, taking low. A second ' card party is planned by another commit tee of the club. TULELAKE MAID TO WED MERRILL MAN TULELAKE Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Bond of Tulelake, this week announced the engage ment of their youngest daugh ter, Marion, to Mr. Richard A. Takacs, Merrill. The groom elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Takacs, long time residents of the Merrill com munity. The bride-elect, graduate of this year's class of the Tule lake high school is at present employed in the Tulelake post office. G. Thom as and Mrs. Niles Michael.. Following the business hour, a program was pre sented with the roles of comic strip characters being taken by Mrs. Paul Home, Mrs. Earl Snyder, Mrs. Wilbur Thomas, Mrs. Paul Sexton, Mrs. Merrill Kious, Mrs. James Fuller and Mrs. W.
