PAGE SIX Patricia Gallagher To Be Summer Bride Attractive Klamath Girl Announces Betrothal to Aviation Cadet Robert Shaw One of Klamath Falls' most attractive members of the 1 younger set. Miss Patricia Jane Gallagher, has joined the ranks of summer brides-elect with the announcement of her engagement and coming marriage to Aviation Cadet Robert Shaw of Walla Walla, Washington. The betrothal was made ' known at the animal uune breakfast of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority's seniors given at Whitman college last Saturday morning. A silver airplane, which flew to the center of the breakfast table, held a bomb in which was a message telling the guests of the young couple's plans. Miss Gallagher is the daugh ter of Mrs. Francis Robert Olds, and with her mother returned to Klamath Falls Thursday evening from Whit man where she was graduated. She hss beer, active in stu dents' affairs on the campus, served as president of Mortar board, senior women's hon orary group, and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Mr. Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert S. Shaw of Walla Walla, is a graduate of Whit man college where he was affiliated with Phi Delta Theta fraternity and prominent in athletics. At this time he is taking his final aviation train ing at Lubbock army flying school in Texas preparatory to receiving his silver wings and gold bars as an air corps offi cer on June the twentieth. No date has been announced for the wedding although it will bike place sometime in July following Mr. Shaw's graduation. The announcement party was given in the garden at the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. C Lyman in Walla Walla. En route home from Walla . Walla, Mrs. Olds and Patricia ' spent a short time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Galla gher in Prineville. It was announced that women of Reames are meet ing Thursday afternoons at the home of Mrs. George H. Merryman to make army kits and a number have volun teered to fill the kite which will be sent from here. Mem bers are invited to sew next Thursday. COFFEE ON THURSDAY FOR OSWEGO GUEST Mrs. Howard Perrin enter tained with an informal ten o'clock coffee Thursday morn ing at her home on Pacific Terrace honoring her sister, Mrs. Horace Manning of Os wego, Oregon, who spent sev eral days here at the Perrin home. Invited were a group of Mrs. Manning's old friends. She is a former resident of Klamath Falls and returned this weekend to her home in the north. Return Home After Vacation Mrs. Lula Leftwlch and two sons, Ronald and Dow Hut chens, returned the fore part of the week from a short visit with relatives in Los Angeles during which Mrs. Leftwlch enjoyed a vacation from her position at the Klamath Falls postoffice. Dow Hutchens is leaving this weekend for Reno, Nevada to catch the plane for Washington, D. C, where he Is in the quartermaster depart-, ment at Boeing field. He has been on a ten-day furlough. Ronald Hutchens who has just finished his third year in en gineering at Oregon State col lege, expects to enter the army within a short time. Bride-Elect Honor Guest Hazel Leonard to Wed James Lear on June Fourteenth Miss Hazel Leonard, whose marriage to Mr. James Norton Lear of Medford will take place on Sunday, June the fourteenth, was honored at a prettily appointed shower given at the home of Mrs. Walter Kennett, 335 Haskins street, Friday evening of last week. . Hostesses were Mrs. Ken nett, Mrs. Lloyd Porter, Mrs. Chester Langslet, Mrs. Clyde Nellis and Miss Leora Repp. Pastel tones were used in favors and refreshments serv ed shortly after the guests ar rived. Word was received here ' this past week of the marri age of Miss Ann Callahan of Alexandria, Virginia and Mr. Walter Van Emon, son of Mrs. W. C. Van Emon of this city, which was solemnized in Alexandria on May the twenty-ninth. Members of Job's Daughters, Bethel No. 6 of Klamath Falls, installed their new officers in a beautiful ceremony held at the Mason Temple on the avening of June the fourth. Dur. ing the closing ceremonies, Honored Queen Mary Jane Drake was presented a bouquet of red roses by officers of the Bethel, and during the installation, Past Honored Queen Merlon Al brecht was given the past queen's jewel fastened to a doll miniature of herself. The room was decorated with large baskets and bowls of purple and white lilacs. Dancing was enjoyed at the close of the installation by members of the Bethel and their guests. WASHINGTON VISITOR IN KLAMATH Mrs. Virginia Lee Hamilton of Washington D. C, spent several days In Klamath Falls as the guest of her cousins, Mrs. W. C. Van Emon and Miss Nora Rlnker. Mrs. Hamilton left Saturday morning for a stay In south ern California. She will visit at the Grand Canyon and oth er points of interest en route home to Washington, where she Is an auditor in the inter' nal revenue department. While here Mrs. Hamilton visited at Lake o' the Woods where Miss Rlnker has a sum mer home, and also enjoyed a trip to Crater lake. Mrs. Clark Rawlings and son, Jack, left last weekend for Berkeley where they will join Mr. Rawlings. The fam ily will probably remain south for ' the duration and their many friends regret their de parture from Klamath Falls. They have resided on Pacific Terrace. Mrs. George H. Rogers and two daughters, Shirley and Ruth, will leave Sunday eve ning for San Francisco to spend a short time, later go ing to visit relatives on a ranch near Orovllle.
