THE EVENING HERALD, KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON April 21, 1042 DOWNS AGAIN ST L L TO CALIFQRN A The Klamath entrance to Cal ifornia at Dorris again led the northern California entrances in March and the number of cars entering that state from Oregon Jumped 3,024 over the number ior February. It was a bigger travel month than January in very station, with a total of 12,- 008 cars entering California through the northern stations during March. The cars entering at Dorris numbered 4,451; those at Tule- lake, 2198; Redwood highway, 1476; Hornbrook, 4358; Alturas, 492, and at Smith River 1102. During the same month for 1941, 6248 entered California through the Dorris station, 602 through Alturas, 702 through Tulclake, 6475 through Hornbrook, 1964 through the Redwood highway, and 1343 through the Smith River station, a total of 14,475. Thus March 1942, shows a drop of 2377 over March, 1941, for all northern checking stations. Dorris was again fifth in the California border checking sta tions, ranking behind Blythe, Daggett, Fort Yuma and Yermo. Southern station figures show that Blythe and Yermo entranc es fell sharply in March over the February figures. Blythe was down 229 cars and Yermo 3000 Yermo is the checking station on U. S. 1 and 499, the routes coming in through Boulder City, Las Vegas and the north and east, to Barstow, California. Dag gett was up 578 and Fort Yuma 72 over figures for February, MYRNA AT RENO RENO, April 21 M5) Film Ac tress Myrna Loy is staying at a guest ranch at Washoe Pines, 20 miles south of Reno, to establish legal residence preparatory to seeking a Nevada divorce from Film Producer Arthur Horn blow, Jr. Accompanied by her maid, the actress arrived here early Sun day. 1 Both Dr. and Mrs. F. John Scroggle of London, England, spoke Sunday at the First Pres byterian church. In the morn ing the doctor spoke on "Lights and Shadows?" comparing the Christian to light, illuminating, giving heat, shining on the evil and the good, and shining exact ly where God places the be liever. "As there are three ways in which light gives off heat by radiation, conduction, and con viction, so you give off heat by your walk; that is, by what you are; by witnessing; that is by what you say; end by work; that Is by what you do." so Dr. Scrog glo stated. Probably the best of the throe great addresses of the day was the one in the afternoon, deliv ered to the smallest audlenco, when Dr. Scroggie spoke on the Lord's prayer, centering in the words, "Thy kingdom come," This he called "The cry of a dis tressed world, a sob of the heart," He said: "There are three things in this cry of the distressed world: (I.) It is a remembranco of a coming Prince; (II.) It is a revelation of a consummating purpose; (III.) It is a realization of a consuming passion." There was no afternoon ad dress scheduled for Monday, but there is to bo each afternoon of this week for the other days ex cluding Saturday, when Dr. Scroggle will speak at 2:30, ex cept on Thursday, on "The Or acles of God, Revelation, Direc tion, Instruction, and Inspira tion."' On Thursday afternoon at 2:30, Mrs. Scrogglo Is to give her fam ous lecture on "Tito Forces of Evil and the Fortress of Eng land." Following this tea will be served in the dining room of the church in honor of the dis tinguished guests. On Tuesday evening at 0:30, a politick diner for young pcoplo will bo served, at which Dr. Scroggle, with his usual versatil ity, will give the address. To this all young people are Invited, who may bo interested In Christ ian service. Mrs. Scroggle on Tuesday eve ning, will speuk at Hie 8 o'clock sorvlco on "A Startling Enquiry." Monday evening Mrs. Scroggle was scheduled to address the Business and Professional Wo men's club at the Wlllard hotel at the 6:30 diner hour. Dr, Scroggle wna to speak Monday evening at B o'clock on "The Divine Pathway." On Tin's day noon he is to address tho Lions club.
