(Special) Twenty-two years of service for tha Lakevlew Roundup associa tion is marked by the group of men which this year makes up the governing body of the activi ties of the local show, to ba held Saturday, Sunday and Labor day. Since tha first roundup way back in 1810 these men have. managed to produce a show each year that has been slated as one of the finest western events In the west, The grouping of these men together this year was marred only by tha fact that tho first president of the roundup was not in tne roll call. Sam Dicks, deceased, led the roundup through Its first infancy steps with fine example for his suc cessors to carry on. Ab Ouslcy (1922) and Lloyd Ogle (1023) ara doing their bit this year by handling all con cessions. Gone Favcll (1923 and '24) Is a one-man team In charge of advertising and tha work at headquarters, both of which are no small Jobs for any committee. Walt Lcehmann (1926 and '27) and Bill Green (1940) will handle all track events. The visiting Indians will look to Joa Fuller (1928) and Dick Winchester (1030) for campground facilities and accommodations. Ernie Fetsch (1020) has his hands full with tha management of the roundup dances. Ned Sherlock, who established a record with the responsibility of the show on his shoulders for six succes sive years (1931 to '36) Is in charge this year of all arena events. C. J. General director of the queen's contest and the annual Labor day parade Is Gordon Barrie (1938 and '39 ) All these men are being nobly assisted by committees of willing workers. The most prominent of these Is the chairman of tha group, Lon Denio, who was se lected by tha past presidents to have official say-so over their activities this year. Lon has been one of the most willing workers the roundup has ever experienced, holding tha post of secretary for many years and al ways present with concrete evi dence of work and suggestions regardless of his own activities vuu.. Thnso who have seen this event, which was originated by How ard for the coronation of the queen, are again looking forward to It with enthusiasm. In charge of the queen's contest under Bar rio was C. F. Snider, a tireless worker, who was assisted by Ray Harlan, Loren Stewart and Vic Johnson, as well as a large group of willing assistants at each queen's dance. George Stephen son and Stanley Hanson are breaking all records In lining up tha big parade on Monday and they promise an event which will be a credit to this year's ac tivities. Working together as group for tho first and probably the last time, this array of past pres idents of the roundup are mak ing every effort to have this year's show one that will linger long in the memories of the many visitors who will ba in Lakrview this weekend. - Read tha Classified page. GIF CARRIES ON SHOULDERS LAKEVIEW (Special) While roundup officials are busy with their activities, Jim Ogle, chair man of the Lake county fair board, has on his shoulder the responsibilities of directing the first annual Lake county fair which will be held this year in conjunction with the roundup, Saturday, Sunday , and Monday, Ogle, long a booster for the county fair, was active In get ting the county to purchase the roundup grounds as a future site for this annual event. Although hampered by delay In securing building and lay-out plana and weather conditions, Ogle, never theless, has been successful in ac complishing the construction of I three units of the exhibit build-1 ing and several stock sheds In a phenomenally short time. These ara only the beginning of future construction plans which will be j carried over period of years. I Lined up for this year's fair! activities are exhibits from open class, 4-H and FFA divisions, and the Rotary Club Junior! Livestock show which will be I held Saturday evening, August I 30. A fine array of premiums! and prizes have been grouped ! for all fair events and much en-j thualasm is being evidenced ; among the general public over1 this opportunity to present a ; complete picture of the general ; activities In Lake county.
