Washington, D. C. by Alfred D
Collier, president of the Swan
Lake Moulding company that
title No. I of the federal housing
act has been extended for 2
years to July 1, 1043.
"This means," said Collier,
"that congress recognizes that
the Improvement of civilian
morale by better housing is of
primary importance in the de
fense effort now being put forth
by the United States."
Loans up to $2900 for modern
ization and repair are to con
tinue practically as before with
a three year maximum maturity.
A special type of loan has been
added between the sums of $2500
and $3000 for modernization and
repair when the proceeds are
used to repair or Improve an
existing dwelling that is design
ed or is to be designed Into a
multiple family dwelling. A five
year maximum maturity Is per
missible on this type of loan.
Title 1, class 2 loans for new
structures non-residential are to
continue with a maximum of
$3000 Instead of the former
$2500. Title 1. class 3 loans for
new residential structures re
mains the same except that the
maximum is raised to $3000 in
stead of $2500. The maximum
term' remains 15 years as here
tofore. The seven years of experience
under the provision of this act
by the retail lumber dealers, has
proved that this type of loan
has been very helpful to the
citizens of the United States in
improving their living standards
and conditions.

Grass Fires Call
Firemen Out Four
Times in 18 Hours
The city fire department
thundered down Main street
four times within 18 hours, all
alarms the result of grass fires
in various sections of the city.
No damage resulted from any
of the four calls.
At 1:30 p. m. Friday the trucks
went to Sargent and Lytton
streets; at 4:45 p. m., called to
1838 Worden street, grass fire
threatening in that section; at
1:03 a. m. Saturday, Seventh
and Willow streets, and again
at 8:21 a. m. Spring and South
Sixth street, fire near the rail
road tracks.

the date for the proposed sale
of 84 city Jots at public auction
on August 8, by the US bureau
of reclamation, reached here
this week from Congressman
Harry L. Englebright. The new
unit of lota will add to the resi
dential district of the town, in
creasing the total number of
taxable units to 376. The sale
was approved, according to the
announcement by the depart
ment of the interior on June 7.

of the Klamath reclamation
service will act as superinten
dent of the sale, with Herbert C.
Melaas, auctioneer.
The new addition, which lies
within the corporate area of the
city, wa annexed by the city
council a year ago. The area
will be served by the newly com
pleted water and sewer system.
Terms of the sale are for full
payment on the date of sal of
one-fourth of the purchase price
when land Is bought, the re
mainder to be paid in three an
nual installments, interest to be
paid at the rate of 8 per cent on
deferred payment.
The sale is scheduled to begin
at 10 a. m.
