On that date, polling places will be open Irom 2 to 7 p. m. at all schoolhouses to give votera an opportunity to express them selves on a proposal to exceed the 6 per cent limitation in order to finance a construction pro If the proposal passes, a $49,' 500 building program at 10 loca tions will be carried out. The election was originally slated for July IS, but was changed due to technicalities in connection with publication of legal notices. Regatta Plans List Aquaplane Riding Sunday (Continued from Page One) from Eureka, Calif., and Coos Bay, Ore., will enter this year along with a pair from the Elk Lake Yacht club. The sailboat entry list is published today on the sports page. Jim Kerns, general chairman of the regatta, announces that the regatta will get underway at noon Sunday and urges the crowd to be on hand early to select seats. Tickets are on sale at the Elk hotel and the cham ber of commerce office. Three past title-holders will be back in the loggers' contests to try to repeat. Marvin Rags dale, two-time winner and last year's champion will be up against Ole Nassen and Adolph Feusi who will try to push him off his throne. Other choppers and buckers from . inside and outside the Klamath area will be on hand, too. Death Toll for Mine Blast Mounts To 11 in Alabama ACMAR, Ala., July U W) The death toll in an explosion wrecked wing of Acmar Coal Mine No. 6 mounted to 11 to day and weary rescue crews struggled through tons of debris. Volunteers working all night by lamplight succeeded in ex tracting nine bodies before day break. Two were still buried. The dead miners, nine negroes and two white men, were trap ped In tha mine's eighth entry, more than mile underground, sometime yesterday afternoon by what company Chief Deputy Herbert Ginright described as 'a local gas explosion." The explosion was not heard on the surface and the accident was not known until J. L. Poe, a miner, discovered a dead pow er wire leading into the cham ber where the men died. OPEN EVENINGS AND SUNDAYS Esplanade and Wall Crews Rushed to Fire Lines in Central Oregon PORTLAND, Ore., July ll ) More than 800 men rushed to fire lines today to battle a 14,000 acre blaze in brush and grass land on and near the Warm Springs Indian reservation in central Oregon. Some 10 lightning-started fires raged there. The largest has Jumped the Metolius river and threatens green timber. Oregon's newly trained Red Hats were moved from their schooling camp at Corvallis and sent against the spearhead of flama menacing the virgin pine, The 85 men carried eomplata fire-fighting equipment. The Oregon Forest Fire Pa trol association reported yester day that a ao-acre fire near Scappoosa in Columbia county had been brought under control after it had destroyed 300,000 feet of cold-decked logs in tha Newman logging operations. Naples Bombed by British for Second Night in Succession ROME, July 11 (JP British planes bombed Naples last night, the second night in a row, the Italian nign command an nounced, and caused "much damage to civilian dwellings." Five persons were reported killed and 20 Injured in the raid, which lasted nearly three hours, Shortly after tha bombard' ment Crown Princess Maria Jose visited those injured in tha raid, She paid a similar visit to tha hospitals yesterday morning. Italian planes, on the other hand, bombed refineries at Baifa, In Palestine, causing large fires which were still blazing many hours after the raid was over, tha communique said. LONDON. Motion Pictures To Be Shown at Wooden Box Meet A public showing of 45 min utes of motion pictures is sched uled tonight in connection with the convention of the Pacific coast division of the National Wooden Box institute here. The pictures, ono reel show ing manufacture, filling and packing of 3-inch anti-aircraft shells and another showing an army ordnance company in field maneuvers, will be shown at 8 p. in. at the Willard hotel.
