PAGE FOURTEEN THE NEWS AND THE HERALD. KLAMATH FALLS. OREGON May 1, 1941' Makketi and fyincuurial COHllE STEALSHOW NEW YORK, May 1 ID Strength of import commodities again took the play away from securities in today's financial markets. While stocks faltered, stum- bled and recovered indifferently at intervals, such staples futures as rubber, cocoa, wool, hides and sugar pushed forward under renewed demand which appar ently reflected fears of nearby ocean transport shortages. Transfers were around 300,- 000 shares, one of the low turn overs of the year. In the stock division, McKes son and Bobbins preferred made new high for the year. Ahead most of the time also were San ta Fe, Chesapeake & Ohio, Loft, Standard Oil of N. J., Kcnnecott, Montgomery Ward and Cerro de Pasco. Bethlehem Steel dipped, al though others in this group were followers of a slim groove. Hesi tant also were Sears Roebuck, Consolidated Edison, Westing- house, Air Reduction, J. C. Pen ney -and Johns-Manville. Bonds were uneven with scat tered rails improving. Today's quotations: Air Reduction 37J Alaska Juneau 41 Al Chem & Dye American Can Allis-Chalmers .
