Burch, a mldwesterner, Is one of the lad. who help, sup port Klamath Falls, Not that Klamath Falls would topplo if J. M. Burch should shclvo his Job with a sash and door plant ln Dubuquo, Ia, It wouldn't. But local lumbermen, if enter tainment is any citorion, would take some very immediate itepl to assume a place ln tha affec tions of Burch'. successor. Burch is the head buyer for one of the largest door manufac turer's ln the country and, in pursuance of that capacity, makes a periodical trip to th coast to check up on a lot of sales arguments which flow through his office ln the course of a year or two. In short, he', the guy who buys the product that we in Klamath Falls know is the foun dation of our basic and biggest industry lumber and without the buying power of the eastern markets, we'd have to be entire ly dependent on potatoes. The Dubuquer is one of an un knit group that passes through now and then to see where its purchases are coming from, how they're being manufactured and who's behind the manufacture. Burch is a tall, heavyset man with the mein of Actor Nigel Bruce and a thinking process like a scared bolt of lightning. Outwardly bland and with a de ceptive air of only half Interest, he is mentally one of the most alert lumbermen we've encoun tered. He is also a republican. As a veteran businessman, his interests are centered chiefly on industry, and, at the present time, its future. His observa tion business is belter; how long it will stay that way or what is its future in the light of current affairs he's tired of guessing, but has his fingers crossed. Who hasn't? Now that the riddle of the third term is solved, we find the nation settling back to be gin solving crossword puzzles again.
