The Women's Council of the first Christian church held lta regular meeting at the church January the eleventh. A hot luncheon wa served to more than forty members by Group four. - The business meeting was called to order by the presi dent, Mrs. Pearl Schultx. Plan were completed tor the brotherhood dinner which Is to be held on January "the seven teenth. After the business meeting the young people had charge of the program which waa en Joyed by everyone. e Tbe next meeting ot the council will be on February the eighth at which time all members are urged to be pres ent to learn "Silent Sister's" name. A new drawing of names for the following year .will be held. The meeting was ad journed by the benediction. MRS. GILCHRIST HOSTESS TO JUNIOR MATRONS Mrs. O. W. Gilchrist, SIS Grant street, entertained the Junior Matrons of the Methodist church on Monday evening, January eighth. Mrs. C. Poole and Mrs. McDanlel assisted. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Elsie Lar son, president. Officers elected tor tbe coming year were Mrs. C. Poole, president, and Mrs. Sid Petersen, secretary. The calling contest, which has provided much Interest, came to an end. The losing side will entertain the winners at a Valentine party, to be held at the home ot Mrs. Victor Phil lips on February the twelfth. Following the business meet ing, games were enjoyed and refreshments were served. WEED The members of the Sunday school board met at the Weed Community church Wednesday evening at eight o'clock to discuss ways in which to improve the Sunday school attendance. Social Group Named Tuesday Miss Pearl Jean Wilson and Mis Marie Collier were elected chairman and secretary, respec tively, of the Presbyterian soo ial and study group at a meet ing held at the home ot Frank Fleet, 645 Alameda street, Tuesday evening. By coin cidence they succeed Marie Col lier, chairman, and Pearl Jean Wilson, secretary. The group, organised last fall, meets every other Tuesday tor a combined study, business, and pleasure session.
