The teams divided their first two games, but Oregon State Is in second olace in league standings, well above the third place Web- foots. ' Llebowlti and Silver will start at the forward position, Patter son at center, and McLean and Purdy at guard berths. Eastern Oregon Wins Hoop Game LEWISTON, Idaho, Feb. 21, UP) Eastern Oregon and Lewlston Normal basketball teams squared off for their fourth game of the season today, ater the Oregonians took a step yesterday toward squaring the season's count. The Oregon quintet won, ES to 38. The Eastern Oregon five op ened strongly, with Flemmlng, lanky center, sinking six goals. The Oregon team led at the half, 27-14. Lewlston won two earlier sea' son victories over the EONS. NEW YORK, Feb. 21 UP) Perhaps the biggest task Uncle Sam's Olympic authorities have to tackle before they send a team to Berlin to give basketball its Olympic sendotf is that of sitt ing the college crop to find teams that might measure up to their amateur athletic union opponents in the final tryouts. Plans for the final trials to be held in Madison Square Garden the first week in April call for five college teams, survivors of the N. C. A. A. Eliminations in ten districts throughout the country, to clash with the winner and runner-up in the A. A. U. tourney and the Y. XI. C. A. champion. Right now there's very little Indication as to what teams will get the call. Teams Seek Titles In addition to the endless ar- gumentst over the comparative basketball strength in various sections of the country, there's the fact that most of the out standing teams are too busy try ing to complete their seasons successfully to give much atten tlon so far to the question of entering the Olympic trials. Oth. ers may eschew the prolonged N. C. A. A. playoffs in favor of the A. A. U. tourney. At present there Is plenty of room for argument whether Long island university is stronger than Purdue, Notre Dame or Arkan sas and so on down the line but such basketball hotbteds as In diana, the ' Missouri valley re gion and New York's metropoli tan districts seem to have the best prospects. Huskies in Running Notre Dame dropped a 64-40 decision to Purdue early in the season but then went on to win 17. The Ramblers decisively downed New York university in Madison Square Garden where they were hailed as one of the most formidable teams ever to show there. Purdue, although beaten by N. Y. U., Temple and Butler, has had eight straight victories. In diana university and Central Normal of Danville also are high ly considered. Pacific coast experts report that the calibre, of basketball being played tthere this year is not as high as It has been In seasons past. Stanford and Southern California shape np as the best in the southern division with ten straight victories and no defeats. Angelo Lnlsettl, Stanford soph omore forward, is considered the best Olympic prospect. He scored 130 prospects in nine games, ringing up 35 points in one early season encounter. JOHNSON, JR. Wilson, Chick Discussion There was some Inclination among wrestling followers this week, to favor Cowboy Dude Chick of Wyoming to defeat George "Wildcat" Wilson in the main event wrestling match at the Klamath armory Tuesday night. The more general opinion, uow- ever, placed the two heavy weights on pretty even terms. In any case, the match is unques tionably the stand-out grappling attraction of the season. Chick, winning : consistently with bis airplane spin, has an unmatchable record for victory in Klamath Falls. He won four straight matches in as many weeks, never requiring more than one fall to do the trick.
