It was said by aeorge C. Keener, gen eral manager of Paclflo coopera tive poultry producers. Tbe new price made extra 17c, tandard ltc, and medium 14 cent a dozen. Butter prices were held Intact during the late session of tbe product exchange with all cube values unchanged. This showing of near itrength was made In face of tbe much weaker Cali fornia trade and large sharp price lotset at Ban Francisco. Demand Growing Because of the manipulative influences at work at Portland, this city was attracting much more butter from out-stats points than recently, a condition that was expected to upset storage in fluences wmcb continued chiefly responsible for the higher price on fresh stock. There was a growing demand here for something to protect not only the trsde but the con sumer against the sale of cold storage butter of Inferior Quality as top fresh goods. Return of the old Oregon state brand wa suggested. Livestock Steady Hog and ctlt markets show a rather steady ton along th wholesale way for country killed offerings. There was no change from recent values, which were generally maintained. California lettuce deal has been straightened out. Imperial Val ley shippers took a layoff of a half week and made no ship ment. Market for live chickens con. tlnued aggressive at recent price here with demand from the out side favorable. All sort . were In favor. Speeds Slower Only a limited local call for dressed turkeys was showing and this consists chiefly for hens or very small toms around 28 cents s pound to retailer. Outside de mand remained good for large torn. At 11 cent the price on Iamb wa now so high here (or conn try killed offerings that It does not take more than the nominal supply now In alght to take care of demand. Yearlings and ewe continued scarce and firm. Much slower trade was sug gested In the market for potatoes at Paclfio Northwest sources al though prices there were being held nominally at the former high point. Sales at consuming points were unusually limited. Onions were alow in the coun try with only 2' moving here. Hothouse rhubarb market was unchanged. Cheese trade was more active. Hothouse tomatoes . holding steady lor limited offerings. Hothouse mushrooms war be ing held as low as 30 cents a pound. Cranberries unusually depress ed and as low as 1 2 for quarter oarreis.
