Under these franchises the power cony nnv navs nothing to the city. The aeneral opinion of the members of the lesgue was that the city should be entitled to some return for the franchise. DEMOCRATS II E E The Klamath County Demo cratic central committee held Its first meeting of the pre-election seaxon In the Oregon Hank building Wednesday night. Chairman A. r. Graham pre sided and Harry D. Ilolvln was elected permanent secretsry. A committee consisting of Bolvtu. N. II. Cantor and lieorge Gristle was appointed and Instructed to draft a resolution urging the covering of ths government canal within the city Umlls of Klam- th Falls. The women s Hutu will be invited to cooperate with the Democrata In this movement. The extension of payments of water taxes and of payments under the federsl farm loan was alo referred to the resolutions committee. The organisation will send copies of these ' resolu tions to Oregon's representatives In congress and endeavor to se cure the necessary Belief. Tha committee favored Bert E. Haney of Portland to run aa candidate tor lolled States senstor and R. K. Bradbury of Klamath Falla as candidate for representative. A. B. Cain of Juneau. Klamath Court Sees Road Work Members of Vhe Klamath county court were In Chiloquin Tuesday Inspecting roads which have been recently oiled and Im proved and surveying the re lief situation which la under the direction of Jack Almeter in that community. Authorised for both the Christ mas and New Year periods, cents-mile offerings of transportation will be made by Southern Pa cific company for the benefit of holiday travelers throughout Ore gon and other parts of the west, according to announcements yes terday by L. L. Graham, dis trict freight and passenger agent for the company here. At the same time, Graham re reeled, -the company haa com pleted arrangementa whereby the special low fare excursion tickets may be given thia year aa a new kind of Christmas present. Prepaid tickets, purchased un der the plan, will be delivered to all places on the railroad's Pa cific lines, extending from Port land to El Paso snd from San Francisco to Ogden.
