Jan. 3 fTP) A postmaster who developed his station from fourth class to third class by buying and mailing eccs has decided that the government 'doesn't want the business.' Willard ii. Poller, w ho is both storekeeper and postmaster here, increased his earnings as post master by mailing cases or eggs he. bought at his store instead of sending them by express. A fourth class postmaster is paid a percentage of his receipts. Then lie offered two cents a dozen more for eggs than other buyers in the vicinity, Additioeal postoffice receipts more than covered the price increase. His office was changed from fourth class which paid only $160 a year to third class, paying $1100 plus clerk hire and allowance for rent, light and heat. He paid the Clerk's salary to bis wife. Hut the egg esses piled up so high that the rural mail carrier refused to carry Ihem to Black Hirer Falls for shipment. The post office department ruled that Potter must haul the eggs to the nearby town. The crossroads postmaster has stopped trying to increase his business. "Just because I went out and got some business for my post of fice. I've- got to haul to town." Poller says, "Doesn't seem like the government wants the busi ness, does It!" Application of modern psycho analysis to the savage tribes of New Guinea and Central Aus tralia has revealed some inter esting facts about the younger generation in those countries. The complexes and Inhibitions of savage youths and maidens were aired here in San Fran cisco by Dr. Geza Roheini. emi nent Budapest psychologist, who arrived here recently with his wife on the station liner Ven tura, after a two years' research expedition which took him on camel back into the heart of Australia and by canoe Into the wilds of New Guinea. Savage youths, 'revealed Dr. Roheim, have inferiority com plexes, but do nol suffer from them as do their civilized cou sins, because their desires are not so uiftlcult of achievement as in more cultured lands. For example, if you are a young bnsbman iu central Aus tralia, and yon fall in love with a girl, tribal rites and customs permit you to kidnap the ohiect of your affections with or with out her permission, and to carry her off to your hut for better or for worse.
