Many of the Malln people were In Chlloquin last Sunday fishing. 1 Mia Mildred McAlister of the Malln high school won third prise In the annual masquerade ball laet , Haturday night that wa, held in Deeds Not Words "Deeds, not words." Who could be a person of deeds, not words and not be respected? Words are so unnecessary, so fool ish It seem unbelievable, that so -many people uso them so ex travagantly. Many great men are noted tor their silence.. A man who Is in the habtt of doing and not saying Is bound to get ahead, he cannot be kept down. Idle talk, 1 a most venomous procedure. It has ruined many people, often branding an entire ly innoient person with a bad re putation. Business deals hare of ten fallen through txvause of idle talk. Let as take for an example of thia topic, two salesmen. One, we shall say, is what is known as Mgh-pressure: the other Just a representative of hi company's products. We shall, for a time, tune In on the results of the two. The first is a great salesman, he is very anxions to Impress the fact on hia victim. He i selling more of his line" than any other salesman and so on indefinitely. The second doe not try to leave an Impression of himself, bat rather of his line". He explains, p'easantly and politely, all the good points, admit the bad. and screes on possible improvementa. but tries to give the business man the best service that can be ob tained. There is no need to express which man will win. If the per sonality of one is so minus that he must emphasise It instead of tne goods he is selling he cannot expect to win the vote of the mod ern business men. They want to xnow tbe virtues of the goods in question, not of the man sellins The above is but one examnle oi me many ways in which ind cretion in the use of words mav be disastrous. We may all profit by iuv motto, "ueeas. not words". Jokes Mr. streets "Xow. come alonr and I'll teach you to milk a cow."
