When a teacher asks a student a Question, bis reply is some times a (runt, "l"h" or "Huh.1 both quite similar to a (rant made by a pig. The teacher ax- pecta a respectful answer when ahe asks ah question. Why didn't she get It? Are we stu dents going to teach our teach- lers that meaningless language: Some have already learned part ot 1U For example, some times during an athletic game when an error la made you can see the ooach grit hi teeth and here him go "Or-r-r-r-" lik( an angered beast. la the gift of speech going back to mere brunts and ruin? There are reasons for the rale. Smoking tend to make one abort-winded, it dull the body action In answer to the request ot the brain. It Is injurious In many ways, not only to athletes, bat to any one who smokes. The coach's orders, "No smok mg!" should be obeyed to the letter. Too often a good player becomes short-winded because ot excess smoking. Any one who Is oa team hould be willing to give up a detrimental habit is order to lliielp his school. There la also the element of honor. It Is sot the best exam' pie tor one to abstain trom moking while In the coach's ilgbt, and then to smoke like a furnace when the coach cannot ee him. Small schools should have aa strict rnlea on smoking as the larger ones, and the students should be willing to comply with them, for their school, it not for their ows good. Pep Club Gives Hard Time Dance And School Party A hard time dance and party was given by the Malin High Pep club Friday. The hall was (decorated in tunny papers and newspapers. All the people I were dressed in hard-time cos tumes. Many Interesting and funny kames were played In the early part of the evening.' Later a hard-time dsnce wss held. The music wa. furnished by the 8o- Ikol orchestra. Those invited were the alumni, parents of all the high school students and the tudents. Carr School Has 'Penny Fare' Show A penny fare was held at the Carr school Monday, December 2. This was the first entertainment gives by the school this rear.
