Already a number have announced their intention to contend for the nomination, but this means little. What republicans and others who have supported that ticket for fifteen years must center on, is a plan to keep out a democrat from the national congress. There are only two things that can stop Klamath's growth and impede the growth of the entire Eastern Oregon country. One is a war, which no one anticipates and the other is a democratic administration. Nothing would set us all back so much as to have four years offdemocratic government, for invariably the democrats fall down completely when it comes to running the nation. Jt would be a blight on the name of Oregon to send a democrat to congress from the second district and those who feel they are called to run should take stock and sei if they are liable to be beaten by a democrat. If they are, they should support the strongest man republicans can name, thus continuing the Sinnott policies and at the Fame time preserving the good name of the state, besides insuring a period of better business conditions than has ever followed a democratic victory. This has been determined by a number of the business men, and instead of attempting to have a half-way Fourth of July event all efforts will be centered in making the rail road celebration the biggest thing ever attempted in Southern Oregon. This is a good decision for there is nothing to scat tering shots. Make one good one. Have a crowd here that goes home pleased and with something to talk about and we -haveaa, a community accomplished somethings Fourth of July celebrations have gone flat since the day of the automobile. Too many people love to fish and spend the day in the hills to have what we once had in the way of Natal day events. ' .With one celebration merchants and other business men can contribute to that occasion and make it a worth while event. They can use the same funds that every year are demanded for some kind of a Fourth of July celebration and they will be none, the worse financially, besides making(the occasion one of prominent worth to the city and county.
