The elements were doing their best to dincottnt the statement that south ern California Is the land of contin ual sunshine. For ten dayo the en tire company was marooned In the mountains by the heaviest snowstorm California has ever experienced and Buffered from tho cold and lack of food until a relief party could reach them. Unable to shoot their scenes in that locale, as the script did not call for snow, they were forced to choose another location, sans snow, but it was neccssaryao build huge bonfires to keep the players warm between scenes, and at times it was impossible to keep a make-up on for the strong wind. The final scenes of the picture were taken between rains, forcing Innumerable delays, while the com pany dodged veritable deluges and raced out to get a scene or two when tha sun appeared from behind the clouds. At the completion of the picture the company all agreed that hereaf ter they will never refer to this sec tion of the country as "Sunny California."
