(p) National hanks thronrhnut the country are feeling mor- and more the restrictions laid uroun.l them by federal statutes and grenN-r freeBOlb for them was described as impera tive In the annual report or J. W. Mcintosh, comptroller of the curren cy, made public today. The' cbiHp trollor cited detailed statistics to show an Increasing exodus from tin: nutlonul banking Vrtem and he pro dieted it would continue until the national bunking laws nr. amended. To accomplish tho needed relief, Mr. Mcintosh strongly urged enact ment of the McFadden bill, a meas ure which was passed by the house last congress but which never was reached by the senate. ' "It is a well known fact," the re port added, "that 'many national banks are anxiously awaiting en actment of such a' bill as that which" failed at the last session of congress. If they cannot at this time obtain! some such amendments to their churter powers as are therein pro posed there will bo a still greater exodus from the nationnl system." Mr. Mcintosh Bald that although the resources of the national banks bad steadily increased from year to year and the condition of the federal banks remained strong, the rela tive Increase nevertheless in the total resources of tho notional insti tutions bad been slowly falling as compared with the resources of state banks atid trust companica. He men tioned that during tho forty year period ending with July 1, 1924. the total resources of national banks had fallen from 75 per cent of the totul banking resources of the couu try to about 4 7 per cent. ; Tho last IS months, he said, had witnessed a further shrinkage in tho propor tion of the total resources held by the national banks. (ip) Listen to music, look at beautiful things, chat with friends, wear your best clothes and talk all you can to pretty girls, If you wish to live for many years. This is the advice given -by Pro fessor Friar Bacou of Oxford, where the average age of the heads of all the colleges has reached seventy years.
