A wild, snortin'. whiskey-crazed
Klamath Indian ran amuck on the
corner of Klamath and Eighth sircM
shortly after noon today and before
the pandemonium bad subsided a
customer of thu Ford Oarage was
sadly bealen up and City Patrolman
Mitchell was suffering from a badly
bruised nose.
Police were called when the wild
Indian was found pommeling a man
in the Ford garage. A crowd quickly
gathered outside of the garage when
Patrolman Mitchell arrived on the
scene. The Indian "was prostrate
upon the ground.
Suddenly he climbed to his feet
and hit Mitchell a terrific blow on
the nose. Mitchell retaliated with
several hard IiIowh with ills sap
which apparently had no effect On
the whialcey-erazed Indian.
Mayor Coddard stepped iu to aid
Mitchell and just managed . , riodgi
another heavy blow. Finally a num
ber of bystanders assisted the May
or and Hie officer and bundled the
fighting, yelling Indian into a taxi.
It took four men to carry him to
jail.
Who the Indian is or where lie
procured the whiskey, could not
be learned this afternoon, lie wna

A charge of being drunk anil dis

Hidden Spring
Uncovered By
Steam Shovel
Clear Cold Water Gush
ing From Barrow Pit
Of New Road
A beautiful hidden spring, which
for years has been flowing under
ground Into swamp land has been
uncovered by a lucky scoop of the
tractor steam shovel which has been
grading the Midland-State Line road.
The source of the clear and cold
spring water was found Just south
of Midland. It gushes forth from
the barrow pit which parallels the
road and flows In a clear cold
stream Into the marsh.
Which probably tells the story of
why there was an Indian camp
ground at that particular point.
Whether or not the spring will
be utilized for anything Is nil
known.
