The alfcged confession was in the
form of pages torn from a note
book which Warden A. M. Dalryni
ple said had been found on or near
Jones' hotly. The submission of
this evidence was a dramatic mo
ment in the trial inasmuch as the
existence of such evidence had never
before even been intimate.
Found by Trusty
Warden Dalrymple testified that
the note hook was brought to him
shortly after the break by a trusty
convict named Johnson, a life term
er, who said that it had been found
on Jones when ijie coroner was
examining the body. DRlrympIe said
that he found the alleged confession
scrawled on several pages of the
book in blue pencil and Hint be also
found a code and other notations
in the book. After tearing the con
fession from the book be gave it to
Dewey Jones, the dead convict's
brother, who offered lo attempt to
decipher the code, but was unsuc
cessful. The second sensation developed
when Dalrymple was cross exam
ined by the defnse. The warden was
Just about to be released when be
stated that he had another bit of
information that had not been
brought out by the questioning.

Sheehan pleaded Kuilty to a charge
of intoxication yesterday and vrftfl

An investigation convinced the
district attorney's office that Shee
han had no part in the attempt of
some prowler to gain entrance to
the pool room. Sheehan was arrest
ed near the hotel a few minutes af
ter the sound of breaking glass had
apprised the night clerk of the Ar
cade hotel that an attempt to enter
the hotel was being made.
It was revealed today that the pool
room had been entered last week and
between $15 and $20 in cash stolen
from the cash register. The robbery
was not reported to the police.
