SIMMONS GETS COP
"Buckshot" Simmons is the proud
est deer hunter in Jackson county,
he having killed the largest black
tail, deer in southern Oregon this
year, or perhaps in its history. For
this feat he was awarded a silver
loving cup, donated by Young's
I Hardware store for this purpose, on
which will be engraved his name,
weight of the deer and when and
where killed.
Buckshot's animal weighed ap
proximately 207 pounds and had
five points on one horn and four
on the other. It was killed Friday,
Sept. 4. on Parker mountain in the
Green Spring country near the
j boundary of Klamath and Jackson
comities.
f)n ibis bunt be was accompanied
, by bis wife and uncle, E. I). Morris,
accompanied by his wife. The hunt
which lasted four days, also netted
Mr. Morris a three point buck.
Only two other deer were enter
ed in competition for the cup, one
being entered by Chauncey Florey,
weight lS7'2 pounds, killed in the
Butte Creek country, and the other
i by I'. B. I.owd, weight 147 pounds,
j killed in tho Green Spring mountain
district. There were no other on
j trants, due apparently to tho Im
