Deputies Find Shotgun Which Convicts Used Posse Locates Weapon In Woods Near Willard SALEM, Ore.. Sept. 2.3. A shot gun that wan taken from tbo arsenal of the state penitentiary by the en capilng convicts. Tom Murray, Ells worth Kelly anO James Wlllos, on August 12. at which time another convict. Oregon Jones, and two pris on guards were killed, was found yesterday cached In the woods near the Willard school house. It was near the point, about 10 miles east of Salem, that the three convicts loft the commandeered taxlcab on the night iff the escape, and was where Kelly said the gun had been left. Kelly bas steadfastly maintained that the gun was not, loaded when he took II from tho arsenal and was not loaded afterwards, but one load ed shell was in the gun When it was found yesterday. This fact is ex pected to be or considerable aid to the prosecution when the convicts come up ,or trial. The shot gun was carried by Kelly. Who she was, where she went, or what her true name was is a mys tery to the district attrney's office and the sheriff's office which has been straining every effort to find her. One woman was taken into cus tody by deputies mid brought beforo the district attorney. The mer chants who were floocod could not identify her and she was released. The first check was passed on II. -1. McKlm local grocer, on Sixth street for $12.60. Tho check was made out to Mildred Black and signed by J. W. Baker, on the bot tom. Several days later another check was successfully passed on H. L. Wickoraham by the young woman, for $11.75.
