Jackie Coogan will oomo to ih" Pine Tree theatre Sunday in hia latest picture. "The Hag Man." Those folk who have been demand ing to see tho Jackie they first loved In "The Kid," will have their opportunity, for he Is said to have a similar role that gives hi in just as much chance for pathos and even more for comedy. Tho story was written especially for tho child star by Wlllard Mack, and this distinguished playwright has constructed a humorous and thrilling tale as only he can. full of activity, but not crowded with com plications. A Regular American Boy In "The Rag Man" Jackie is once more a regular American boy, a lad from the sidewalks of New York. In his other recent pictures he has been wandering all over the map in a variety of roles, but in "Tho Hag Man" he Is the Jackie that everyone first learned to love when Charlie Chaplin brought his genius to tho fore. oAt The LIBERTY Playing the part of Lassiter. Tom Mix is al the Liberty Theatre, where this screen adaptation of Znno Grey's famous novel, "Riders ot the Purple Sage.'' Is playing for two days. In this virile druma of pioneer days, Mr. Mix portrays the part of a Western hero who, like a devas tating angel, swept through the countryside of the early settlement and made his name a terror to right a great wrong. He plays it so con vincingly and with such a wealth of dramatic force that tho rolo Is des tined to stand ns ono of his greatest. Tho closing sceno of this throb bing drama of tho Rrent Western desert is staged In tho mountains. In a spot of great natural grand Bur. To save a girl and her sweet heart from a force of pursuing rustlers, a huge rock is dropped down a sheer cliff, crushing to death many of tho horsemen. Running through the entire plc luro is a powerful, absorbing' love story that breaths the ruggedness and the wholesomeness of the great Wost. One of the biggest surprises Is tho discovery of the Identity of the mysterious masked rider. SAN FRANCISCO. Packers and others interest ed In the harvesting of the crop state that fay far the bulk of the prunes will run 40 or better. Or chard runs are found to be almost straight 30-40's a condition which ! Is quite unusual. Although Petites are smaller In size, yet they too are running high and are excellent in quality. .mother noticeable fact concern ing the Italians is that they are lack ing in "bite" and have an unusually high sugar content. Usually the Italian prune is somewhat tart and has a peculiar biting flavor. This year they are almost as sweet as tho French Prune. The prune harvest is rapidly near Ing a close, and drying is expected to continue for only about a week more. MARKETS PORTLAND. Ore., Sept. 19. Cattle receipts SO, market nominally steady.
