Josephine Lucille Hess, five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Hess, died Monday evening, after a week's illness, and was buried Tues day morning in the little Camp cem etery. Miss Be mice Hess, their eldest daughter, who has been in Portland, Oregon, the past year. came home Wednesday evening to be here for the funeral of her little sister. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wright and baby, who motord to San Francis co and Sacramento on a pleasure trip, returned Saturday in a brand new car. The Amusement Club gave a dance Friday night in the audi torium. All who attended enjoyed a good time, with the best of musi: and a fine supper. Tennant had several nights of first real cool weather last week. Every one was afraid of frost but so far that calamity has been averted. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Templeton, Robert Templetop and baby, Mar garet Jean, left Thursday mo-nl :g for Clear Lake, California, f.r u few weeks vacation. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Hawkins mo tored to Klamath Falls Tuesday on a business trip. Miss May Ellen Tebbe, daughter of Dr. Fred Tebbe of San Krancisjo, who has been visiting Miss Dorothy Murphy for the past two weeks, left Friday morning for her home. C. W. Murphy, camp superinten dent, early in the spring offered a $25.00 prize for the one havin,-; the best all around yard. The committee who judged these yards was composed of Dr. Will Tohbe and son, Stanley Tebbe, of Weed California, and J. B. Woods, Forest ry Engineer, of Longvlcw, Wash ington. It was a hard matter to award this prize to anyone, as there were at least twelve yards at worthy of notice and showing more than ordinary care and culture. They Judged on the following four points: 1. Beauty use of flowers, vines and shrubs, also screening of stumps, foundations, etc. 2. Util ity Planting and care of gardens of vegetables, berries, etc. 3. Neat ness Care of rock wuls, walks, outbuildings, trash, etc. 4. Com pleteness manner of Improving whole of each lot from street to alley and along division line. After careful study and deliberation the first prljte was awarded to O. O. (Doc) Wlngfleld, who lives at 202 0 street. As all four points seemed to he most competely covered at thiB place. But they commended highly the excellent work and con ditions nt.so many places deserving of special mention.
