(jpf Under the joint auspices of the Tokyo Xichi Xichi. the Osake Muinishi and the Japan Mountaineering' society, an attempt will be mode by a parly of Japanese mountain climbers to es cend the heretofore unsurmount able peaks of the Canadian Rock ies. The party, which will be cap tained by Mr. Maki, one of the leading mountaineers of Japan, will include representatives from the Peers' School and Keio university. Final preparations will be made at Vancouver. The climbers will start out from I Jasper with .to horses and a number of native guides and a base camp will be established at the foot of Hit. Colombia. (P) Minister of the Interior Russeff has directed the chief Commission of Provisions to begin proceedings against fruit and vegetable merchants in half a dozen cities to compel them to sell their produce at reasonable prices. Complaints had been made that prices three times as large as they should be were being charged. Some milkmen, who were said to be charging excessive prices, also were included. The provision authorities were instructed by minister not only to fine those 'nd guilty of pro fiteering but impose prison sen tences of one -ar as well.
