Mr. nnd Mrs. Gitibrd nnd chil dren, Esther. Helen, Josephine nnd .lack, left for Idaho to resido the last of the week, Mr. Gifford has had charge of the Boguo dairy cows. Miss Hnllie Moore, who was tn a recent automobile accident, has lieon able to leave the hospital and is at her homo in Morrill. George Millard, who was injured at the same time, is improving. The Ladies' Aid will meet Wednesday afternoon at the homo of Mrs. C. M. Merritt. Mi's. Sam Inpraham and son, former residents of Merrill, and her sinter, Mrs. Oeorge Teekin from Manticia, Calif., are visiting rela tives and friends in Merrill. Miss Esther Moore l.ss accepted a position in the White House. ' Mrs. R. H; Anderson and daugh ters, Helen and Thirza, were among those in Klamath Falls Saturday. Frank Hedrick from Dodds Hol low was in Merrill Monday. ' Mr. and Mrs. R. Dal:on and Mr. nnd Mrs. E. F. Merritt spent Sunday in Klamath Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Merrill, who were, visiting friends and relatives 'in Merrill, left for their home in Redding, Calif., Sunday. They were . accompanied home by Miss Louise Dalton, who will go from Redding to Oakland to visit her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. C. Dalton. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Dalton invited a few friends to meet Mr. and Mrs. Merrill. The eve ning was spent in visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill left a few months ago after the death of their daughter, Martha Margaret Merrill. Refresh ments were served by Mrs. Dalton. Those invited were Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. An derson and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Merritt, Mr. and Mrs. Morrill, Louise Dalton and the host and " hostess,.. , , ir ..,. . ; ... " The many friends of Mrs. Thos. Martin will be glad to learn that she has so far recovered from her recent operation that she was able to be moved to the home of her son, S. E. Martin, in Oakland. This was word received by her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Anderson in Merrill. A meeting of the Merrill boy scouts will be held at the club rooms Saturday evening. All scouts are urged to be present. . Mr. and Mrs. Bunkers and chil dren from Alturas, Calif., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Dal ton in Merrill. . Mrs. Copplck and daughter, Mrs. Will Landreth, from Straw, Calif., visited at the home of Mrs. Elmer Shay Monday. Miss Maudle Shuck was a visitor in Klamath Falls Saturday. C. A. Barrows is visiting in Big Valley, Calif. , Mrs. Geo. Of field visited in Klamath Fulls the first of the week. ' Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Barrows are in Merrill from their ranch in Adin, Calif. ': W. F. Shuck nnd family spent Sunday on a picnic at Timber mountain. They also visited with Mrs. Mason at Straw, Calif., and helped to celebrate her birth day. Mrs. Mason is about S5. Farmers are having much diffi culty in securing hay men. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kaerth and children from Maxwell, Calif., are visiting in Merrill. The guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Merrill. Mrs. Kearih is a cousin of Mrs. Merrill. Mrs. Jennie Jones, Mrs. James Jones, Ed Jones. Buddie and Junior Jones were in Klamath Tails Sunday evening. Mrs. Frank Newberry, who is in training school for nurses at Medford, returned home with them and will spend her vacation with Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Ned O'Conner. LORELLA Mr. Compton and sons of Owens Valley, California spent several days in Langell Valley looking over ir rigated land With the intention of locating. Mr. Compton is well pleas ed with the outlook for crops this year. ' Mr. Archie. Wiahard and Mr. Sam Head have made several trips to Langell Valley with Owens Valley .people who are interested in Langell Valley ranches. F. M. Dearborn and wife of Owens Valley arrived Friday and are now living on their ranch recently pur chased in Langell Valley which was formerly the Jonah Sparks ranch. Mrs. Dearborn will teach In District No. 14 the coming school terra. The Tier family of Owens Valley have purchased the Billy Warren ranch in Lower Langell Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Warren will tour the Paci fic coast for a while and hope to find a climate that will agree with their health as both have suffered from poor health the past few years. Cangell Valley welcomes these new comers but also regret io have the W.'W. Warren family leave the com munity as they have been residents of Langell Valley for twenty years. T. M. Bieler has taken over the work of watchman at the Gerber dam. The house is almost complet ed and is modern In all respects. Gladys Cox and children left for Klamath Falls after spending sev eral weeks at the R. C. Cowley home. . Mrs. Loomis and children .are making an extended visit with her parents Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Tlcknor. R. F. Tuttle and family motored to Tule Lake Sunday afternoon. The T. M. Bieler and Charles Bieler family who are visitors from Ne wMexlco spent Sunday at the G. P. Keller home. The Langell Valley Community Club held the regular monthly meet ing at Lorella Community Hall on Saturday evening. The evening was spent with business pertaining to the recent barbecue. All members con sidered the barbecue a success, both from a social and financial stand- Chas. point and plan to have a repetition ot same next year. Miss Hooper has been holding the position as "telephone operator in San Francisco. Before returning home she spent a few weeks In Yreka visiting friends. Mrs. J. D. Hooper and daughter, Opal, Mrs. Wm. Hooper and daugh ter, Virginia and Miss Ha Hooper were Klamath Falls visitors Satur day. Master Almond Gregory was a caller at the home of William Bur nett Friday. Mrs. Edna Flowers was a Klam ath Falls visitor Saturday. "The Blue Ribbon Club" has been offered a prize to the one who is through canning their 20 quarts of fruit first. The prize has been offered by the canning club lender, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Royce, the Midland hotel- owners, and Gloria Martin were In the Couuty sent pur chasing supplies Saturday evening. Mrs. Constance Williams has re turned to her home in Fort Klam ath. Mrs. Williams has been visit ing at the home of hir parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hooper. Mrs. Edna Flowers and family accompanied by her father, were visitors on the Island Friday .even ing. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar L. Furber and son were visitors at the city Monday. Miss Esther Atchison is visiting at the home ot Maydene Gregory for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Scvcik and daughter, Mary were visitors on the Island Sunday. for HEAT and" LIGHT SPRAGUE RIVER F. A. Hutto, stockman, made- a trip to Bend last week where he was called to recover some stolen cattle, which were stolen from the reservation. He was successful in recovering them and apprehended the thief. Mr. Frank Cobern made a busi ness trip to the county seat on Fri day of last week. Mrs. Jennie Clinton and Mrs. Dol lie Lawver of Williamson River was visiting friends In Sprague River last week. We had the honor of having with us over the week-end the Peffles of San Pedro, California. The Peffles were at one time missionaries at this end of the reservation and were I under the National Indian Associa tion of New York. This association was interdenominational and only worked where there was not any religious work. The Indians and whites both were glad to see them, and a good crowd was out to hear them. sir. and Mrs. Albert H. Allen of Compton, California are visiting Mr. Allen's parents, "Rev. and Mrs, Clark of this place. Mr. and Mrs. Allen think this Is a wonderful country and would like to locate here. Hay harvesting is progressing very nicely In this vicinity and it Is exceptionally good. The Aid society met with Mrs. Curtis on Thursday of last week and report a very nice time. We are very sorry to learn that Mr. Harrison Brown Is having trouble with his eyes again. Mr. Geldon Kirk of the Klamath Agency was visiting his sister, Mrs. C. A. C'onschlon of this place last Sunday. Mr. Dice Crane and family was attending church hero Sunday. Mr. Earl Holland, superintendent of the Camell Lumber company mill at this place was married July the seventh and Is on his honeymoon.
