It only remains for the folks who appreciate the possibilities ot adver tising their country to the right kind ot eastern, people .through the In strumentality of this band, to boost their own communities by making an Investment In this trip. "It pays to advertise' is an old slogan, and a true one. And this is one ot the biggest things for the Jeast money that this Crater" Lake . country has had since Will G. Steele went to Washington to give his illustrated lecture to Congress, and got an ap propriation for Crater Lake. . When enough ot the right kind of people know about the glories of the hills and forests, the promise ot the power plants and timber, the re sources ot the cattle ranges and the fruit ranches, tbe nntold wealth ot the mines and rivers, the joys ot the fishing, hunting and camping privi leges ot this land, there will be brought into this country1 finances enough to unlock the doors of op portunity for all. When people who are tired of the burning heat and the shriveling cold, tbe menaces ot cyclone and flood, which are so common in the eastern States learn of the possibilities of living in this land, they will believe with ns jthaVCod made the Crater Lake country for folks to live In. And we will have a lot of neighbors that we need to have. "But how shall they believe him whom they have not heart?" And how shall they bear without mes sengers? And how can . we make them believe ...better than by send ing some, ot our own boys back there in this, famous band, to reach' their eyes and their ears and their hearts with this message? Klamath county will profit great ly by this trip and its advertising. And Klamath Falls cannot afford to stand back when it comes to putting it over. So when the local members come to see yon with their tickets tor the coscert and the big dance, get in line and boost for your own country, the Crater Lake county.- County Cruise Shows Increase In Pine Timber Finding of 1910 County Cruise is Found To Be Too Low j , WEATHER REPORT "''The Cyclo-Stormagraph at Under wood's Pharmacy shows but little change In barometric conditions dur ing the last 48 hours. - A continua tion of present weather conditions is indicated. RETURN'S FROM ASHLAND B. 8iulttr of the Chilcote and Smith firm returned last evening from Ashland where he spent the kolWays with hit family. An Increase of 155,335,000 feet of timber in 47 sections over the origin- j al county cruise, is the report made I yesterday by the firm ot Edgar & I Cullison, who are now engaged in cruising 100,000 acres ot Klamath I timber land. I This is the second report submit-! ted to the county court and indicates i beyond question that tbe estimate ot ; 40,000,000 feet ot pine timber with-! In the boundaries of Klamath county is decidedly low. The report discloses that the in crease per section la in excess of I 3.000,000 feet a section. It this in- crease holds true in all timbered ! sections of the county, it will mean ' that the total stumpage will be ; found to be several billion feet over J the present estimate. On the 100,000 acres that tbe firm of Edgar & Cullison is now engaged In cruising the Increase will be in the neighborhood of a half billion feet, if the present rate of increase holds true to the end. Mr. Cullison, who appeared in per son before the county court yester day stated that the cruise would be completed by August 20. When the county cruising contract was let to the cruising firm, for the cruising ot 75,000 acres of timber land. Since that time the county court has let a supplemental contract to the same firm for 25,000 acres. The contract stipulates that the cost per acre cruising Is to be 20 cents an acre. ' In tbe 27,694 acres ot timber land cruised so far, it was found that the loss from beetle infestations was 5,045,000 feet This loss was not figured In the report to the county court. f The original county cruise was made in 1910. The cruise at that time was not essentially complete, and the county court felt the need of a more accurate cruise, with each section being double stripped.
