She returned to Medford Friday. Mrs. Lee Brown and Mrs. Wallace from Bonanza were visitors in Mer rill Thursday. ' . ' Mr. and Mrs. John Wllfong from Idaho are visiting in Merrill at the home of Mrs. Wilfong's sister, Mrs. Axells. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfong were former residents ot Merrill. Miss Thirza Anderson was a week end visitor in Klamath Falls, the guest of Miss Marlon West. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Frazler and Donald and Lawrence Frazler at tended the carnival in Klamath Falls Saturday evening. A large crowd attended the fun eral of Mrs. Elizabeth Cox, beld in the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Cox has lived in Merrill 23 years, and was greatly loved by all who knew herJ; Rev. Bobbitt of the Christian church had charge of the funeral services, Mrs. Cox being a life-long member of the Christian church. All places . of business were closed during the hour of service out of respect for Mrs. Cox. The following children are left to mourn her death: : David, John, Henry and Chas. Cox and two daughters, Mrs. Durham of Klam ath Falls and Mrs. Shortrldge of Roaeburg. A number of - grand children and several great grand children survive. Mrs. Cox will bo groatly missed In the community, Burial took place in Morrill cemctory and she was laid to rent beside her hus band, who died In Morrill about twenty years ago. ' - , ' Mrs. J. H. Hobbs left Sunday morning for Wilbur to make her future home. The Merrill commun ity greatly regret her going. Her slstor.i Mrs. LaRoue of Salem accom panied her to Wilbur. Mrs. Suit is visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. KIger. She Is here to attend the graduating ex ercises of her grandsons, Estln and Kenneth Kiger, who are graduates of Merrill high. The Senior class were the guests of honor at a dinner Friday evening at the Cafeteria, given by the Jun iors. The Sophomores were guests as well as the. faculty, local board and county board. Mr. Turnbaugh acted as toastmaster following the dinner and talks were given by W. F.. Jlnnetto, chairman of the local board and Fred Peterson, county superintendent for the county unit. At this time the class will was read by Melvin Mayer; class history by Mary Graybael and class prophecy by Charlotte Geertson; also toasts were given by Estln Klger' to the teachers. Charlotte Gecrston, the Juniors and the rest of the class gave a. toast to the Juniors separate ly. A short program was given by the Juniors entitled "School Day", taking off the Seniors and also the faculty. These were very good and caused a great deal of merriment. The room was prettily decorated with fir boughs. Roses were used on the tables. Mr. C. M. ; Merritt. E. F. and Eu gene Merritt were visitors in Klam ath Falls Saturday evening. Miss Helen , Anderson spent the week-end in Klamath Falls, the guest of Miss Elizabeth Ramsby. Mr.. ,Wm. -Baldwin of Klamath Falls was a Merrill visitor on Sun day. '; . .. . Mr. and Mrs. Geo. J. Walton of Klamath Falls were in Merrill Sat urday for the Cox funeral. Mr. S. E. Martin was In Merrill Sunday on business. Rev. C. C. Hulet. tas returned from a ten days trip to Portland and Sunday tilled the pulpit in the Methodist church In Klamath Falls. Rev. Yarnes ot the Methodist church In Klamath Falls delivered the Baccalaureate sermon to the Merrill high school class In the 'Pre Tjyterlan church Sunday morning. The church was decorated with the 'class colors, blue and gold and cut flowers. The class were: Charlotte and Rolf Geertson, EBtln and Ken neth KIger, Kenneth Colwell, Mag daline McClay, olive Hill, Mary Graybael, Hallie Moore and Melvin Moyer, Ml. Yarnes took as his talk "Youth of the Day". He com pared tho. present with the paat generations showing , the advance ments that are being made in edu ent generation. His conclusion was cation, Invention etc.,. by the pres that we need have no fear for the future from the hands of the present 'generation. It was a forcible talk and was enjoyed by those hearing him. ; - . ' The graduating exercises will be held Thursday evening at tho Mer rill community hall.
