Although Lake, of the Woods was
. reported to. have been enclosed In
the crip of snow, the warm rays of
the sun have melted the white cov
ering and the road Is reported as
passable once more. Several resi
dents of Klamath Falls have epent
the week-ends of the past month in
their summer cabins, especially oc-

Flora Leslie, daughter of Josluh
and Mary Leslie, was wedded to
Robert A. Emmltt by Rev. Todd, in
tho little town of Roseburg, Oregon.
Miss Leslie was born in Attica, In
diana. Mr. Emmltt; a native of
Illinois, from a little town near
Peoria. - ,
They decided to .. start out tor
themselves, and with all their world
ly possessions, with the exception of
their wedding presents, started to
Klamath Falls through the moun
tains, Mrs. Emmltt, a fruit little
girl welghlrg only 108 pounds, sit
ting on a horse, loidtng the pack
horse. Emmltt walked ahead, with
their 100 head at cattle. .
Settling on a ranch on the Klam
ath river they lived there for five
years, with three children blessing
them. Tragedy, the first black
cloud to enter their lives enmo one
day, when an attack of scarlot fover
took two of their girls, Kitty and
Mabel. The second daughter born
on . the rule ' ranch Is now Mrs.
Georgia Moyers of San Francisco,
who will bo In the city for tho gold
en wedding. In 1880 they moved to
a ranch near Keno where they re
sided until 190$. Two more girls
were born to Mr. and Mrs. Emmltt.
They are Mrs. Ivy Probst and, Mrs.
Charmton Johnson, both of Klamath
Falls.
Five grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Em
mltt boast. Two of tho great grand
children will be present for the cele
bration from their home In Santa
Cruz.'- " - ' , .'..,'

seven until eight o'clock. A family
dinner will be served later. Two of
Mr. Emmltt's sisters will he present
from their home In Portland. On
the evening of Thursday, May 7,

ding. Mrs. Emmltt will wear the
same wedding dress she wore SO
years ago, a basque creation of pearl
grey silk. Iter Toll is still as frag
rant and dainty as It was years ago
