Workers'
Eyesight
' Only i those ' with perfect eye

The 'skilled worker therefore
has Tital need of good eight.
It behooves hi mto take card
of it, if he would preserve his -skill.
Eyesight . has a ca.s V
.value because U effects the
. quality of our work, and also
-because imperfect eyesight
means imperfect health. Many
nervous disorders are due to
"defective eight, and all skill
quickly deteriorates when' the
nerves are effected. If you
are a skilled worker don't
take for granted the condition
of your eyes. Have them
tested. If they are right all
well and good, but otherwise .
you can take steps, to avoid

California Farmers Looking
Into lKamath County
Ranching Prospect
. As a result of the efforts of Sam
Head, who has been Interesting the
j residents of Owens Valley, California
j In Klamath county as an available
j place in which to locate and invest,
! F. M. Dearborn and Ed Farrlngton
of Bishop, California, arrived here
( last 'Tueriay. These men represent
' ! number of farmers who are seck
! ing a new location, following the
sale of their property to the City of
I Los Angeles. . .
Slrce last Tuesday Tsarborn and
! Farrlngton havo beeir making a
careful investigation of the various
sections of Klamath county and ore
returning to their homos today, car
rying with them a wealth of infor
mation tor those who sent them
here. In speaking of his visit Mr.
Dearborn said:
"Ever since the City of Los
Angeles appropriated the waters of
Owens river, the farmers of the val
ley hare been trying to secure a set
tlement. - Negotiations have been
carried on almost continuously,
"First one representative and
then another would appear On the
scene, the last stating that he was
not bound by tho acts of the former.
Pronise after promise was made,
only to be forgotten or Ignored as
Boon 'as the city's representative
left. Finally the people got tired
and took charge of the headgates
and turned the water Into the river.
When the state refused to Interfere
and when Los Angeles saw that the
time was at hand to settle, it' did
so, or at least made a start. '
"As a result, hundreds' of families
are looking for a new' location. A
former resident ot Owens valley,
Sam Head, In whom the people have
confidence, brought Langell's Val
ley to the attention ot some of the
Owens Valley people, and as a re
sult Mr. Farrlngton and myself
came here. I am frank to say that
we found conditions belter than he
represented them to be. I am tak
ing back soli from four of the val
leys and such other data as will fur
nish my friends and neighbors with
HiO' information they may need to
help them, reach a decision. " '
"The farmers down there are sell
ing thr-lr fruit jnnds to l,ns Angi-lPS
for 750 an 'acre and their alfalfa
land for f375 an ocre. .Those who
may .- decide to come here will be
financed and will be ai addition to
the citizenship of your county that
you will be glad to have. Personal
ly I like it here and hope to return
to make If my borne." ' .
The. type of people living in the
Owens valley is one that Klamath
county needs. They ere progres
sive. Independent, experienced and
comfortably fixed financially. Clim
atic conditions and methods of
agriculture are almost Identical and
H they come here it will mean one
of the greatest steps taken towards
the ultimate development of Klam
ath county as a dairy section.
Owens Valley Is about 75 miles
long and 7 miles wide and the popu
lation is in the neighborhood of
5,000. with the right k.'nd of co
operation with Mr'.. Head, most of
this population can be transferred to
Klamath county. '
