Mrs. Beswick Again Convicted ; Carpenter's Wife, Mother of 18, Lived as Spouse ' of Philadelphia PHILADELPHIA, Apr. 4. Mrs. Anna Beswick, who last. spring found herself in difficulty with the police be cause she was the daytime wife of the father of her eighteen children and the nighttime wife of a Philadel phia banker, was convicted by a jury in Quarter Sessions Court yesterday on charges of conspiring to cheat and defraud. The charges grew out of a numb er of worthless checks which had been passed by the defendants on merchants and individuals lluougu out the-city. Testifying in their own behalf today, Schwartz and Mm. Beswick each accused the other, Mrs. Beswick, who Is about 05 ycarj old, initialed that she had passed the chicks only to aid Schwart;, who, she said, 'assured her he had funds to meet them. . Schwartz, on the other hand, declared that she had led him on with promises ol wealth to come when a 500,000 estate was settled. Mrs. BeBWick first attained notor iety when she confessed thivt he had gone through a murrlage cere mony with , William C. Martin, n banker, posing as a divorced wo man. She was charged with having extorted $50,000 from Martin : In telling him sho was heiress to a huge estate.
