TO PAY 1924 TAX With the deadline set at April 6, taxpayers are flocklr.g in droves to the sheriff's office to pay taxes due for the first half year of 1924. The rush has necessitated feverish work on the part of the tax collectors and employment of extra help during the busiest hours. The last day for paying taxes Is designated as April 5 but inasmuch as that date Ib on Sunday, the sher iff's office has set the dead line ahead to April 6 at 5 p. m. , On April seventh penalty and in terest on delinquent taxes for the. first half year of 193-i will go lnt& effect. The law stipulates that a three per cent penalty be fixed tor delinquent taxes, which w;onld be In creased 'to five per cent after f've years of delinquency, and also that Interest of one per cent a month be charged for each .month ot delin quency.
