Before a crowd of 125, the' lumber company five .defeated the farmer. from the southern' Klamath basin, by a score of 33 to 27. At no time during the game, was the Pelican Bay team lead by Mer rill. A state, highway- project,' includ ing the improvement of "The Dalles- California highway between Klam ath Falls and Barclay Springs,' will be nnder way In several weeks, It was announced today by engineers of the state highway department. : . The maintenance work will com prise principally the widening of the highway In places where It is con sidered too narrow tor absolute safety to the Increased volume of traffic, over this road. . In places .where ..the' road passes through cuts, the maintenance crews will widen the - highway i to allow safer movement of traffic. In other locations, , the road , will be filled to widen the highway. '. The work will not be handled under contract but by the main tenance crews of the highway de partment under the .supervision of C. C. Keiley, division engineer and C. C. Seeley resident engineer. The improvement, it is felt, will make the drive from Klamath Falls north , on the Dalles-Calif orna high way safer to the niotorlst.
