While Leslie Stewart was mowing alfalfa last week his team became frightened at the report of a gun and ran 4way, - badly damaging the mower. Wlhlle this section ot Klamath county was well represented at the rodeo at Klamath Falls the Fourth, there were seventeen car loads of men, women and children who gath ered at the Layman grove and en joyed a picnic dinner and all pro nounced It a most pleasant garnering and hope they may enjoy more. Mary Hradlk and Frank Elmer were united In marriage at Klamath Falls Thursday July 3rd. The bride has been employed at A. Kalina's the past year and the groom has a homestead on the Tule Lake lands. Mrs. Mary Micka. a friend of the bride, and Mr. Kuder witnessed the ceremony. ' While Jerry Mlcka was raking hay at his home here, some part of the rake broke and frightened the horses and they ran away Injuring him quite badly but he Is able to be at work again. . The fact that the teeth raised (when he was thrown from the rake perhaps saved him from a more serious accident. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. L. Smith of Rainier, Oregon, who were residents of Malln tor two years whehe Mr. Smith was prin cipal of the high school will be pleased to learn that they are the proud parents of a ten pound daugh ter, Veta Louise. Joe Mlcka and wife and daughter Georgia attended "The Covered Wagon" at Klamath Falls 'Sunday evening. The ladies of the Helping Hand society were entertained. by Mrs. John Lisky at the home of Mrs. Ethel Pickett Wednesday with a good attendance and a pleasant day was spent. Mrs. Llsky's mother and sis ter who are visiting her were among the guests. , MALIN Mr. and Mis. Ed Hamilton and children and niece and Mr. Will Hamilton and sons are spending soma time in Malin and vicinity visiting and looking after business interests. They drove through from their home in Long Beach and will visit Crater Lake and other points of interest before returning. Mrs. Ruhle and Mrs. Mamlo Ell iott of Hollister, Calif., are visiting Mrs. John Llskey. Mrs. Ruhle is MrB. Ltskey's mother and Mrs. Ell iott is her sister. Mrs; Ray Pickett spent several days In Klamath Falls attending the rodeo. A large delegation attended the rodeo from Malin and vicinity. Mrs. McComb end son David spent Monday with Miss Louise Hatch of Hollywood, Calif., at the home or their sister, Mrs. T. N. Case. Miss Hatch will spend the week-end with Mrs. McComb and family at Malin. Mr. Shauheasy, editor of the Ma lin Progress, iwent to the county seat Monday to attend to business mat ters. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fogle and daughter, Arlene, returned from Cres cent City on Sunday evening where they spent several days. Caswell drove to Gold Hill the latter part ot the week to meet their daughter Opal, who has, spent the winter in Port land attending business college. Jerry Sisemore and Jim Dixon drove several head of rodeo horses to Klamath Falls on Thursday. .Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hickman and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Miller attended the rodeo in Klamath Falls. Ada Deli Dlard of Klamath Falls spent several days here last week visiting Juanlta Taylor. A danco will be held at Melhase Hall Saturday night under the new management of Mr. Martin who re cently bought the building. Johnny Houstin s orchestra will furnish the music. Musical concerts sent by radio are heard regularly over the telephone at the home of Mrs. William White of Spalding, near here. Mrs. White asserts that ono day Inst winter she heard music over the telephone and that many times since she hus taken down the receiver during the evening and heard radio concerts and luctunw from broadcasting stations all over the country. During tho summer month she hus been unablo to hear tho radio con certs at times.
