Sev enty of tho Tillamook calves jeers shipped into Klamath county In 1923. . Every one of tbeso calves was from dam. with ' record of over SOO pounds of bnttor fat production per year.' . - ...-. i F orty of these calves were ordered by tba.co.anty agricultural agent and tba county club leader for boys' and glrlB1' club work in 1923 and were shown at the county fair in October. Tba boys and girls cared for and fad belr calves according to instruc tions from the extension division of Oregon Agricultural college. Several of the. heifer's which were shipped into the county in 1923 have freshened and growing into excellent dairy 'cows. ? fiince tha dairy cows of Klamath County have an' average production of only 125 pounds of butter fat per year, one can readily sea that helterr from blgh-prodncing cows are going to be a big factor In the development of the dairy business in Klamath county and put dairying on a pay ing basis. - . Too many dairymen go into the business with cows that do not re turn a profit and consequently Id a year or two the cows are disposed of and tbo business In condemned. Thero Is no money in keeping boarders that do not pay tho'r board. Tillanuok county dairymen have become -prosperous by milking good cows and we know that Klamath county bes a decided advantage over Tillamook by having an abundance of first-class al.'alfa, bay and grain, plenty of pare water and an ideal climate for the dairy cow. ' We. alao 'know that the ranchers of .Klamath county 'who have been mllk'ng a few good cows find dairy ingrproI:!able. Dnir!!ng In Klamath county la not an experiment Eny more. When calves are ordo cd from the famous,. . .T:l!amook county ' dairy herds that have been bred for heavy production for several years, there Is very little chance of raising an unprofitable cow. ' - E. M. Bubb of the American Na tional bank. Is showing his interest in the development of dairying in Klamath county by loaning money 'to the boys end girls for the purchase of Tillamook calves. ; The loan is made for one year at the rate of 6 per' Cent. . Orders for these calves must be sent, to the county agent of Tilla mook befcro January 1. If yon are interested in purchasing some of ATLANTA, On.. Hoe. SI.
