was aroused when the clergymnn
admitted kissing his bride and thnt
ho went (o the clergyriian's office
with the Intention of administering
a thrashing, which he did.

The letter of apology In part, was:
"t am gentleman enough to begin
by apologizing1 to you as a lady,
humbly and sincerely, for. having,
cause for annoyance. That was the
last thing in the world that was In
my mind: Certainly at the time you
took no offense, and I would have
stopped ' playfully tickling you with
. a grass stalk the moment you asked

when Paine took Mrs. Hagtia for

Paine, who officiated at the mar
riage of lieutenant and Mrs. Hague
anfl who baptfzed Mrs. Hague, has
stated that he kissed the girl on both
occasions as well as the day of the
automobile ride and that In each
case It was merely a display of fath
