in the construction .of Hetch Hetchy

ing statistics: .
Cost: $5,500,000. Time required
to ttnjld: '' Three years. Dimen
sions: .208 feet thick at. bottom;
height, 341 feet from foundation
to crest, with 227 feet above the
stream bed; length-at crest( 000
feet. Lake to be formed by im
pounded water: 1500 acres, ex
tending 7 14 miles up the Toulumne
river. Amount ot concrete used:
390,22:1 cubic yards, equivalent to
2,000 carloads. Excavate!, ma
terial. 66,143 cubic yards of loose
material, and 101.296 cubic yards
of Bolid material. Concrete poured
from a four compartment mixing
tower, 360 feet high, at the rate
of 25,000 cubic yards a month. , ' ,

irrigation of a quarter-million acres
