of 026 by tho latest census, nestling

famed Jackson's Hole country, start
led the nation by turning out Its
man-made administration and Install
ing a town government made up en
tirely of women. The victory was all
the more notable because of the fact
that Mrs. Roho Crabtree was elected
to tho loMn council over her own

Jackson bad decided to spoil tho
town's glamorous reputation as the
rendexrous for bad, bold, two-gun
desperndoei.

with the mayor, stood pat on their
records. The mayor, Mm. Miller, Is
the wife of a wealthy, retired stock
man and rancher who Is supervisor
of the Teton National Forest reserve.
Of the council women, Mn. Crabtree,
runs a hotel. Her husband Is a
building contractor. Mn, VanVleck
Is, the wife of 'a hardware merchant.
Mrs. Halght Is a school teaehcer and
a homesteader, and Mm. W. C. De
Loney'a husband Is a member of the
Wyoming Btsto leglslture.
A few days after the election. Miss
Pearl Williams, the town's 22 year
old marshal, announced that she
would not seek reappointment of the
new administration. When asked why
not, she replied: "I've had plenty,
besldee, Jackiton has become so quiet
and orderly that the town doesn't
need a marshal any more,"
