Europo will compete against tho leading United States and Canadian speed stars, is being planned for tho winter of 1921. Details of the meet -will be worked out at a conference to be held at Lake Placid, N. Y., on Feb. 18 when skaters from all parts of the country will be present for the international championships of the present season. Races at various distances will bo scheduled for both amateur and pro fessionals the latter to skate for the largest purses ever offered In this de partment of sport. The sum of $25,- 000 suggested as llio basis of theso purses, may bo Increased to nearly twice that amount and it Is hoped to hiwu among tho professional compe titors such men as Hobby McLean, world's champion, Oscar Mathieson, Norval Hnptic, Kdmund Lamy nnd others.
