Timber lying on the slopes away from the Upper Klamath lake, where same was not, assessed at $1.50 per M were, reduced to $1.50 per m, for the reason that samo were assessed higher ir. proportion than other timber lands in the county. ' The total asseed pluctlon of , lands a'djusted in the above mentioned toovm-hlps is at the present time after adjustments were mije $0,113.00 higher'than same' was assessed last ye ir. - , The swamp lands' In township 36, raiige 7, were re duced to $1.50 per acre for the reason that all unre claimed swamp lands are assesed at $Ji50 per acre. Timber lands which are situated directly across the lake from above-mentioned townships were assessed by J. P. Lee, county assessor, at $1.25 per m; and the board of equalization raised the same in sections 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 x(and 17, township 37, range 9, to $1.50, to correspond with other timber valuations. If the experiments are supported by later iv(dbnce, the -Cf-cluslons of Dr, Flexnei of'tlio Rtkefrller Institute will be upset. The work was done by Dr. Hersog as head of the re search committee appointed by Dr. John Dill Robertson here and his In vestigation was carried on at the Cook county hospital largely. With the newly discovered germ, or coccus, Dr, Hersog has produced the disease in monkeys and rabbits. It Is possible, however, that this germ Is simply the carrier of a smaller one, which actually causes the disease. IRRIGATE LAND To organize an association of far mers to irrigate their lands by pump ing, land owners of the Pine Grove district will meet tomorrow at the of fice of the United States reclamation service.
