OREGON TUESDAY, MAY 9, 1918 INSTRUCTED DELEGATES AS MORE AND MORE states hold their republican primaries and conventions, the possibilities of stam peding the coming republican national convention to any candidate become more remote. Tha number of delegates bearing positive instructions from their vari ous constituencies Is now greater man anvone at the start of the campaign supposed It would be. There is now a certainty that 338 of the 985 delegates tn tha convention will be Instructed, so that there is no possibility of stam peding them. This is more tnan a intra nf tha total number. Many of the re maining delegatee. while not legally instructed, nevertheless preserve vari ous allegiances to such an extent that there is little likelihood that they can bo stampeded In sufficient numbers to nominate anyone. Moreover, there U a strong posslbll itv that an actual majority of delegates will bo Instructed, thereby making a stampede an Impossibility. In states vet to chose their delegations there are possibilities that 167 delegates will he Instructed. These, added to ine 338 already Instructed, would' consti tute 505 instructed delegates out of 585 delegates In all. m GOOD HEALTH CAN BE BOUGHT MONET will secure good health. That Is, it will Insure immunity from certain diseases. Filth breeds sickness aa well aa crime, and by cleanlnc- un a community sickness can be avoided. Among the diseases which can be prevented Is typhoid fever, aa it la strictly a filth disease, according to medical exnerta, York. Me., a resort town, suffered from a scourge of typhoid fever. la stead of trying to hide the fact or to minimise It the people of the town employed a health officer and cleaned up the town. Now it to healthy. The city nars a tax of a dollar per capita for its Immunity, but it to well worth the price. In seeking for a home, if you con template moving, always look for a town which la kept clean and tidy, and which has pure water and good sewer age. You will thus Insure yourself and family against all filth diseases, and likewise probably aave life. All of which goea to ahow that money will buy good health. m '.
