Jut, supposing It did not, rau this city afford to take the chancoT Ily going to Midland nearly three miles of road will be saved and Ihn cost of the rlght.of.way will ho reduced many thousands or dollars, (t Is within the power of the railroad company to make Midland the dlvl slon headquarters, not only for tho Modoc Northern, but also the Califor nia Northeastern. While It Is not likely that It could ever build a town thero that would outstrip Klamath Falls, It could, by making It the dlvl clnn headquarters, materially Injure Hits city. Tbe nronertv owner nt Klamath Falls cannot afford to take tho change. Tho committee should meet with a generous welcome from tho Procter ty owners. The coming of tho rail road will mean the enhancing of the mine, or overy root or property In tho city. Even one can and should heln. Tho determination should be that thla city MUST havo the railroad and It should bo gone after In a manner that will land It. Another matter that should be con sidered by tho business men of tho city Is tbe fact that the Merrill coun try ara asking for help la this matter. Tbe Merrill people have been camlac to this city for years and spending their money here. This Is the first tlmo Klamath Falls has had an op lortunlty to reciprocate. Let it do it generously. If that railroad Is built It means that tbo returns rrom the Merrill country alone will par off the cost In a very short time. It de volops one or the richest sections or the county and II helos a neonln that are deserving or assistance. The chamber or commerce Is Join n good work In seeking to secure the terminus or this railroad and It should have tho support or everyone.
