As tho plans for tho now sewer system near completion the question of tho disposal of the sewage la re ceiving tho serious consideration of property owners as welt as the of ficials of the city. Already thero are two sides tu tho question, ono advo cating tho uso of I.ako Bwauna at a dumping ground, tho other urging tho use of tho septic tanks. It Is a recognized fact that this question must bo settled only on one basis that of future usefulness. Thero Is not an engineer In tho tounty who will advocate the dump ing of the sownge Into Lake Kwauna. Engineers who havo discussed It do not hcsltato to state that It Is a mat ter that should recclvo co attention from tho city officials. The logic of imh a lcw- needs no keeu analysis. for tho most obtuso can see that It would bo only a matter of a couplo of Mars before the lako would become one vast ceaapool and a menace to the life und health of tho community. Some hate ad t orated pumping tho tow ago beyond tho reef, from which point it would bo carried off by tho rlier. It Is a question If there Is cur rent enough at that point to accom plls.li this result. Tho maintenance of a pumping plant would bo expensive and something that would be eon tlnunl, while, the service would be of doubfful value unless the outfall was carried far enough down stream to get tho required current. j There Is nothing more valuable to this city as a beauty spot than Lake Kwnuna. With the building of the boulevard along Its shores and the reclaiming of the lands adjacent thereto, It would become one of the sights of the county. To uso It for a sow age receptaclo would mean Its de struction as an attraction, since the odors arising therefrom would be so ugcnslve as to make Impossible Its use for pleasure. The uto of septic tanks are appar ently Imperative. It should rot be a queitlon of cost, but ono of J.tfe guarding the health and resource: of tho community, and placed nn this basis tho use of the lake as a r ceptacie for raw sewago should pot be considered.
