come the main line of the Southern
Pacific between Portland and Kn
Francisco.
Not only Is the road retarded by
llarrlman as the most practical for
routing his Portland-Ban FrancUco
traffic, but It also onablcs him to,
reach an Immensely productlvo area
oa the edge ot Central Oregon, which
Is without transportation facilities.
In addition to serving theso purpose
the Oregon Eastern also will frrulsh

tario. At least two routes tor such a
road have been surveytd. One ex
tend from a point on the projected
Oregon Eastern north of Klamath
Falls, via Lakcvlew, to tho eastern

posed route contemplates an exten
sion also from tho Oregon Eastern
from Odell, southeast ot Natron,
through the central part ot the Stat
to the same objective point selected
