There are many mallards flying In the rlelnlty ot Midland now. It It the general report that hunting Is One. Tho scrapers at the railroad camp ot J. Bears are now working about 200 yards ahead of the steam shorel. Mr. Sears has cut his men's wages down to f 1.80 per day while the days are so short. He will raise them again as soon as the days get longer. Sr eral ot the men have quit. Several more engines arrived at the Ericksoa ft Petterson camp last week. Tho organ at the Spring Lake school will be mored to the new church as soon as tho building Is ready to receive It. Mr. Charles Morton li going to bring 500 head ot cattle to tho An keny ranch to bo fed. Will Humphrey haa a bad case ot sore eyes caused from nervousness brought on by drinking coffee. E. A. Crants went to the railroad on business last week. He says the work on the road is progressing rap Idly. Mike Galarneau haa moved to the LaPrarle place. Mike Galarneau butchered four hogs last week. They averaged about 150 pounds each. Homer and Nelson Smith are mov ing from the Melhaae ranch to the E. W. Smith place. J. Sears has returned from a bus iness trip to Weed. Mr. Pointer was in town last week. Scott David Is working near Dairy now. Almo Kswton went to the Falls last week to get a load of lumber for some Improvements on his place. Roscoe CantrlU's mill broke down last week. Ira Ingraham was at the Falls last 'week. Bob Short Is having some horses wintered on the Pete Kelson place. Roy Vernon and John Morehouse r" hauling sawdust for Mrs. Ankeny to -ack Ice. Harry Ingraham is now working for J. Bears. Jack Horton has eighteen new calves In his pasture. He Is fatten ing them to ship. Mrs. C. L. Ankeny is going to have three teams haul wood from Frank Irish' as soon as the weather is fav orable. Frank Ira White was out to his Midland ranch Saturday. The Jack rabbits are getting very thick In this section now. J. Horton had fourteen cows brought In from town Saturday. Mis Gladys Ankeny and Mrs. Mil ler went to" Miller Hill Saturday. H. Anderson -was over to Chas. Agen on business last week. We started to work with many good resolutions, Monday morning, after' a ten days' 'rest. James DIzon and Dick Smith were through the Merrill and Poe Valley country last week getting signers for the Water Users Association. The directors of our' school have decided to change Its name, and when the Inside Is painted In the spring to have the. now name painted in large letters on the front wall.
