Indian War Veteran Dies. The death took place recently at the Siskvou county hospital in Yreka of Elliot Hrryford. -Mr. Hereford was R2 years old a native of Missouri and one of the early pioneers of this Coast. He came to Jackson county in the early '50s and resided in various parts of the county, though most of the time in Sams Valley. He was in the Indian War of 1X55-50 an«l was entitled to a pension, but he only applied recently and though Judge Day did his best to help the old veteran, through lack of proof he could not secure it for him to enjoy it, though it will probably lie granted later on, his heirs if he has any getting the Ix-nifit of the pen sion due at the time of his death.
