In the m eatim e, during his spare
hours, H efflin built a suite of bed-
room furniture in the basem ent of
his hom e w ithout the aid of m achine­
ry. T his furniture he sold fo r $300
to a local housekeeper, bringing his
idea, thereby, closer to its realization.
