Dilly who has held forth as a a chap who was heir to millions of captain in the main dining room for dollars married a “ colored girl,’ ’ several months at The Portland, is out as they call them in America when they have even a little Negro blood in their veins. But if they have Indian blood, as a late mist ress of the White House boasted that she had, they are still “ white" to all intents and pur poses. Well, this millionaire chap mar ried this girl in secret, which in dicates that he expected his dad to object to the “ color.’ He pro- fessed to be “ “ in her, în love with " ’ ,,b h“ r ” acknowledged his knowledge of the “ c o lo r" ; starred and posed for a day or tw o; and then, al though he is a full-grown man in both law atul nature, he let him self be quietly “ kidnapped” by his family, and in a Tew hours we hear of his suing for divorce from this girl whom he was living so "h a p p ily " with only yesterday. He had no eharge against this woman whatsoever; she is his w ife; she is evidently of good character or his dear daddy’s money would have muckraked her long b.'fore this. And so this chap is now in the hands of his fellow-conspirators again, while his young wife is forced to fight alone against the whole hellish lot of them without his sympathy or support. He sneaked like a contemptible cow ard from duty and manhood, abandoning the best chance he will ever have to make Somebody out of himself and to be something more than an insipid "h eir to mil lions." But the stuff for which noble women crave, was evidently not in him. If I were an American girl of any color whatsoever.
